4th annual e-book fair is going on World eBook Fair from July 4 to August 4. About 2 million pdf books are available for free download.

Project Gutenberg has been joined by The World Public Library and Digital Pulp Publishing, Internet Archive, along with Jim Baen [R.I.P.], in the creation of The World eBook Fair which hopes to bring you, and everyone else, a downloadable collection of 1/2 million eBooks in October, in honor of, what else, International Book Fair Month. Most of these eBooks are to be given away free of charge, but as requested by readers of The First World eBook Fair, more modern, and thus commercial, eBooks are to be a feature of The Second World eBook Fair.

This is a very good opportunity to download as many e-Books as you want.

Our goal is to provide Free public access for a month to 2 Million eBooks. During the rest of the year you may continue to download your selection of about 500,000 PDF eBooks by joining the World Public Library. Annual membership is only $8.95 per year.

With ISPs, such as Comcast and Time Warner, metering or limiting bandwidth, your users, particularly telecommuters, may soon need a way to monitor their Internet usage. The Browser War is flaring up once again with the release of Google Chrome. Google Inc. has released its own Web browser in a long-anticipated move aimed at countering the dominance of Microsoft Corp.’s Internet Explorer and ensuring easy access to its market-leading search engine.

It is a new browser based on many freely available open source components such as WebKit and Firefox. Chrome is bare bones, chrome less, browser with very little UI fluff and decoration. It is interesting to note that the UI for the Google browser took a note from the companies colorful logo, the Chrome UI looks neat with a blue pastel color scheme.

They say, Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Many of the features that are high lighted in Chrome are not necessarily revolutionary. Chrome basically reduced the browser to the location bar, tabs, and content page.

The most notable features in Chrome are its crash control, incognito mode, and safe browsing. Chrome runs each web page on its own process so that if one page fails only that page is effected. Incognito mode is like Safari’s Private Browsing, aka Porn Mode, it allows you to surf the web without caching cookies and history of the sites you visit on your local computer. It’s safe browsing feature will help you to identify web sites with malicious code or applications. Many of these features are not entirely new.

What I think is new is that Google decided to release yet another browser. The browser space is already crowded with Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera, Konqueror, and Flock to name just a few. It is clear that Google will align Chrome with its properties, search, applications, development tools, and user generated content sites. Seeing Google take this approach I wonder if other companies follow suit and release internet browsers that compliment their business. Can you imagine a custom browser from Adobe, McAffee, Oracle, Amazon, or EBay? hell!

The news is that Chrome has already acquired nearly 1% of the market share. Now, thats impressive and I think Firefox is already feeling the heat.

Free streaming media capture tool TubeMaster is a great all-in-one solution for grabbing and converting audio and video from nearly any web site that can stream it to you. The no-install app launches as its own application with a built-in, tabbed browser—simply launch it, head to Last.fm, YouTube, a site with proprietary Flash video, or nearly any other streaming media, and hit “Start Media Capture.” The files you grab are lined up in a queue for you to decide how to convert and save, and TubeMaster’s built-in media search tool covers nearly 100 video and audio-sharing sites.

There are browser plug-ins and apps that do some of the same things, but none quite as comprehensively as TubeMaster Plus. TubeMaster Plus is a free download for Windows systems only; upgrading to a paid version unlocks downloads from adult sites.

Today I found a handy tool at tech republic. It’s called DExposeE2 (quite a name, I know). You can switch programs visually using DExposE2. Modeled after Expose in Mac OS X, DExposE2 lets you use the F9, F10, and F11 keys to toggle different views of running programs. F9 minimizes all application windows to fit on your screen. F10 minimizes all windows of a single program to fit on your screen. F11 makes all windows move out of the way to give you access to the desktop. You have several options for activating DExposE2 with hot-keys, mousing to the corner of your screen, or the function keys. There are several more options to configure in the preferences.

You’ll have to search for it, but this updated version of the Windows Photo Gallery that debuted in Vista is worth the hunt. If you’ve chosen to steer clear of Vista, no worries: It works in XP too.
